Fun with Photo Booth

My MacBook Pro arrived today! I used the migration assistant to copy things over, sans the Applications. Because of preinstalled apps, I didn’t have enough space.

After an hour or so it was done. Ethernet did not work, but a reboot fixed that. The machine is much hotter than my PB 1.67, which was always cool to the touch. This thing is warm on top.

However. FAST. Playing World of Warcraft, with the same maxed out settings, but having a larger screen, the MacBook Pro is as fast if not faster than my AMD 3200 XP box with nVidia 6800GT. Running around Orgrimmar with both accounts, one on auto follow yielded the same FPS according to titan, if not faster on the Mac.

Way to go Blizzard!

So anyway, it is fast. I could use a 500gb HD. And now for the test of the built in iSight:

LOOK!

I’m home!

I’m home and Coral walked while I was on the plane trip back! I can’t wait to see video! It must have been all of that reading we did Saturday night :)

I also want to thank my friends and family who have been there through this last six weeks or so. It is been really hard, this being in love and then having it go away, and then hearing she is happily dating someone else already. Meh. So thanks :)

Goodbye, Chef

We do love you Issac, even though your brain was scrambled by a fruity little club.

I won’t be watching MI:III either. I’ve lost all interest for anything starring Tom Cruise.

I’m most sad at Hayes for being so hypocritical. South Park’s beauty is that it pokes fun at everyone, every religion, every celebrity. That is rare these days in our “kiss my ass” society.

South Park has owned the Mormons, the Christians, the Catholics and Mel Gibson. But oh touch beloved Scientology, which is clearly a load of crap and “I quit.”

Its sad that we live in a world where a cartoon, hand drawn or animated, can offend so many people’s beliefs in something they can’t see, isn’t it? Let your God deal with the blasphemers, if they are indeed such. Continue your religion for the reasons religion should exist, to help others, to make Earth a better world. So far, you’ve proven that drawing a stick figure justifies murder, hypocrisy and hatred. Nice.

I’m sure that if there is a Satan, the way the world’s religions are responding to these issues is exactly how he’d want them to respond. Don’t you think?

What do you use your Dell for?

Makin a roast

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

So as part of my self-improvement, I am learning to cook a little. Making a roast in the crock pot that Sara got for me (bless her soul, yes we’re just friends) I put in a 4lb roast, taters, carrots, onions and peppers. Oh and a little water. 3 hours later on slow I read it should be 10 hours on slow, or 5-6 on high. So I kicked it on high and added an hour.

Won’t be done until 7 now, but it sure smells and looks great :)

Did I finally get iChat 3 A/V Working?

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Thanks to info at Ralph John’s iChat Page, I finally got iChat AV working, we think. It still depends on the remote end being configured properly, so if you have problems, see the linked image.

Basically I turned off uPNP and used port triggering instead. I have a Linksys WRT54GS v1.1 with Firmware Version: v3.37.6 - HyperWRT 2.1b1.

I found John’s information a little confusing so I set it up like this:

Picture of Linksys Port Triggering Settings

iChat3 and iChat4 are for Jabber I think. I didn’t know the trigger port so I left them zero and disabled. Don’t enable them, it breaks other stuff. :)

The only thing I cannot do is video chat with myself between two machines here and a third person hosted from the G5. The laptop comes back with insufficient bandwidth. I have 1,500kbps upstream, so it should not be an issue, but maybe I am missing a port that is used the bandwidth negotiation process?

I can video chat myself between the G5 and laptop. Wow, a first.

So what is up with Steve?
