Bush plugs Dell TVs

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

During Pres. Bush’s Q&A with reporters, Pres. Bush decided to throw some props to Texas based Dell Computers with the following comment:

“When people see carnage on their Dell television screens”

Apparently, its not just Dell Computers where people deal with carnage, such as Windows viruses, etc.

Hacking the Vote

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Interesting HBO documentary on the insecurity innate in the Diebold voting machines. It doesn’t matter who abuses these systems, the fact it is so easy to abuse them is horrific, considering people are dying today for our right to a democracy and to vote.

Draw your own conclusions. As much as I am a geek, these closed system e-voting machines are pretty scary. It would be very easy to affect this election with the crappy system these people have developed.

Aperture trial

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

I downloaded the 30 day Aperture trial to give it a go. I like the app!

I imported my 7500 some odd photos from iPhoto. Took about 8 hours to import, generate thumbnails and previews. Resulting Aperture library is about 1gb larger than the iPhoto library.

If you’re into photography and especially if you shoot RAW, give the trial a test run for yourself!

Michael, Welcome to level 4

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

I got a call from my colleague at the airport today. “Steven? Can you check the trash? I think I threw away my ipod”

Sure enough, an apple bag with a nike armband and inside that was the brand new red nano. Of course, it was all so light that it ended up tacked onto the other bag he was throwing away as he headed out the door.

Welcome to level 4 of iPod ownership!

A quick jaunt to the airport reunited the stray ipod with its caretaker.

How Wonderfully Cool!

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

After a long week in Canada, I went to the post box to get my mail. In the postbox was a large package from my wonderful friends Ketra and Simeon.

Inside said package? A signed copy of iWoz.

How freaking cool is that?

Thank you!

The real gifts don’t always come at xmas or on birthdays. Send some early and spread the joy! (Which is why I’m really happy Coral was born in March, the coolest gift of them all! Speaking of, get well my love!)
