Have 2nd gen iPhone and 2007 OS. Calendar has been syncing just fine for months, but now sync gets hung up on syncing calendar and doesn't progress or sync any changes from Outlook to phone. Reset phone; removed all calendar items and tried to reinstall; reinstall went fine, but now will not sync again and still gets hung up....any suggestions?

There are two places on your iPhone to set the Time Zones.
One is:
Settings->General Settings->Date & Time->Time Zone *If you can not see an option for a time zone you must turn off Set Automatically.

Two is:
Settings->Mail Contacts Calendars->Time Zone Support

If these all match and your computer matches, it should solve the time differences.

Hello, I have the same problem mentioned earlier by someone else, and so far I can't find anyone who has a solution. My iTunes keep showing old iCal calendars, but it also shows the new ones.

In addition, I can add calendar events on the iPhone, and at least for some of the calendars, these evens never get synced over to the computer.

Thanks Bryan #40 - who would have thought that you need to change your local city settings in two spots on iphone. what a joke. this is my first time using an apple product and although evry product has its issues i have found that the solutions to apple issues seem to be perplexing to say the least.

the other day i downloaded a movie into itunes no problems (showed up as a movie) but it wouldnt sync with my iphone until i changed the settings to show it was a music video.

I could not get the fixes that were earlier suggested, but this worked for me. In the iPhone open Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars (below General). Scroll to the bottom under Calendars and there is an option for Time Zone Support, click that, then click time zone and set to your location (mine was set to Syndey Australia probably following a trip). I also have Time Zone Support on, but I'm not quite sure what that is. Anyway this worked for me and now my sync's for my calendars are working perfectly!

I'm not so dim as to not try the Date/Time settings to no avail. Your tip showed me the way, thanks again!

To anyone who had the "One hour off" issue between their Outlook Calendar and their Iphone Ical, I have fixed mine. Here is how I did it. Step 1: I went into my iphone "Settings" and went into "General" and then into "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" and changed the "Time Zone Support" from Washington DC to Atlanta (Same time zone but different City). Step 2: I went back into "Setting" and then into "Date & Time" and turned the Set Automatically to "OFF". This opens 2 drop-downs with "Time Zone" and "Set Date & Time". I then chose "Time Zone" and changed it to "Atlanta" as well to match the Calendar Setting. I then put it BACK to "Set Automatically" and exited. I checked my calendar and the times were automatically set back to be the same between Outlook and Iphone. I just stumbled on this myself after reading some other very complicated routines and thinking it had to be much simpler. Hope I made sense and you can follow it to your own path of Sanity. Just changing the City that your clock is set to seems to do it. I think it is because the Default setting gets messed up when you activate the phone???

Try this:
change date/time to manual local city
under settings > reset > reset all settings

in itunes bring up your phone under devices.
Go to the info tab
at the bottom under advanced - replace phone content from computer
sync

Hey guys this looks old but Ill throw my problem in here,

Trying to sync my 1st gen. iPhone with iCal through iTunes. iTunes sync pictures, videos, music, programs, podcasts and everything perfect, but not my calendar, i select "sync iCal calenders-all calenders," and then in the advanced settings i select "replace info on this iphone unit", and select "calender"...

now, when i select "use" in the lower right corner the advanced setting "replace info on this iphone unit" just unchecks "calendar" and my calendar on my iphone is still empty..

what is wrong? how can i fix this?

-Thanks

I went to "Mail, Contacts, Calander" and under Time zone support changed it to "cupertino" which is the same time zone of where I am, ie Los Angeles. and that solved the problem. I did not have to do anything on the computer, whic was set for "Pacific" time Zone"

It would also seem if anyone is still really having problems that the solution for me was the rather elusive setting on the iphone in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Time Zone Support and make sure that it is set the same as your computer and your iphone's time date setting and that cleared up all of my time conflicts. It doesn't seem to set itself to your time zone automatically.

The issue seems to appear only if the event meets the following criterias: 1. Lays in SUMMER AREA of Daylight Saving Time (from approx mid-April to mid-October); 2. For recurring events (like birthdays, anniversaries) the start date lays BEFORE 1980.

That looks pretty ridiculous, but this two criterias drive the process.

So, in Outlook I selected all birthdays on contact page and changed everything to 1980 or later. Of course, no more tracability of age.

I had the problem where everything was syncing hours off (four hours ahead). I just made sure iCal had the time zone support on (it was not when i first started using the program). Then I went through my phone and reset my time zone to my city.

Hello, I have a strange problem. My iTunes keep showing old iCal calendars and none of the new ones. As a result I can put new events on my iPhone because the old calendar's don't have information and the new ones don't appear and I can't sync from Phone to iCal because the calendar's in "Use" by iPhone don't exist on iCal...

I already:
- reset sync history
- Restore my iPhone (and didn't use the backup info store. I setup a new one)
- Deleted all iCal prefs I could find

Any ideas? Help!!!

Hello, I also had the 5 hour difference in entries made in the calendar on my iPhone and iCal on my Mac, having read some of the threads above I remembered a trip to the USA a couple of months ago where I must have set the time zone to Philadelphia (on my iPhone). Once this was reset to London (where I live) all seems fine again! Thanks to all who contributed and certainly helped me.
