The wonderful newlywife™ suggested, after hearing me talk about WWDC, that I should go to this years WWDC, with so much going on in the Appleverse, it is about time to jump back into the game.
So……..

I have one bank whose statements, while they show in a window as PDF, are embedded in HTML document so when you save the page, you get a useless, empty HTML document.
So I simply would choose print and “Save as PDF…” from the PDF button. That worked fine, I thought.
While I was entering my statements into Quicken, I couldn’t get any of them to reconcile. It was driving me nuts and I even called the bank. While on hold, I figured it out.
The bank’s statements are legal sized and Safari defaults the print setup to letter sized.
The Mac didn’t warn me about this, and in fact, if I looked closely, could see the print preview actually drawing outside of the print box and over the controls in light gray!
So, my documents were all cut off and by some chance, perfectly between statement entries, so I never saw the error.
Re-printing all of the statements in legal size solved the issue.
No CommentsI’ve had my revision 1 2G iPhone since day one (literally) and have been wanting 3G speeds and GPS for some time.
With the recent peek into iPhone OS 3.0, I am hoping Apple is planning on shipping new hardware this June or so. If so, that will coincide with my 2 year contract anniversary and open up a number of options, such as buying a new phone out of contract.
With the rumors of OLED screens at some point, video support, tethering support and faster 3G, I am perfectly willing to wait to upgrade.
Meanwhile, I’ll keep plodding along at EDGE speeds.
No CommentsWould have been nice to have a little upgrade fee vs. buying “new.” iTMS even asked if I wanted to re-purchase this item, even though I had only bought the SD version before.
Was it worth it? There are less jaggies, yes. Not sure if there are $8 worth of fewer jaggies, but heck, it supports Joss so why not.
I would have liked Dolby Digital audio however.
No CommentsJohn Gruber reported on the music service from Spiral Frog shutting down. He predicted it was a dud back in 2006, and I wrote:
Nice! So they use the Windows DRM, and use the Apple-doesn’t-license-fairplay excuse to not play on iPods, but they don’t even work on Zunes! And if Spiral Frog is indeed backed by UMG, UMG is getting a buck from every Zune sold! ROFL.
It appears they only work with Plays For Sure, which as many of you know, is not Zune compatible.
…
All I can say is, I’m sticking with my nice, clean, easy to use iTunes Music Store
Yep.
